AEC (AW) (SEL) Joseph L. Spink, USN
AEC (SEL) Spink was born in Syracuse, New York on March 21, 1979 and lived part of his younger years in Pulaski, New York and another part of those years in San Diego California. He entered Naval Service on 28 January, 1998.
Upon graduation from Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, AEC (SEL) Spink attended Aviation Electricians Mate 'A' School at Naval Air Technical Training Center in Pensacola, Florida.
After completing 'A' School his first tour of duty at a sea going command was with F-14 Fighters at Fighter Squadron ELEVEN (VF-11 Red Rippers) at Naval Air Station Oceana from 1998 to 2002 where he made the rank of Second Class Petty Officer. His next tour of duty at a sea going command was with Strike Fighter Squadron ELEVEN (VFA-11 Red Rippers) at Naval Air Station Oceana from 2004 to 2008 for a repeat tour with the "Rippers" Where he made the rank of First Class Petty Officer and served as Leading Petty Officer of the Quality Assurance.
His shore duty assignments include a tour with Fleet Composite Squadron SIX (VC-6) "Firebees" Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) at Dam Neck Virginia from 2002 to 2004. His next tour was at Naval Air Technical Training Center where he served as Leading Petty Officer of Apprentice Technical Training and instructor with Aviation Electricians Mate 'A' School from 2009 to present and in 2011 was selected as AEC (SELECT) Spink.
His personal awards include Navy Achievement Medal (five awards), Good Conduct Medal (4 awards), and Expert Pistol. His unit and service awards include Meritorious Unit Commendation, Battle Efficiency Award, National Defense Ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Award, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and Sea Service Ribbon (2 awards). He has achieved Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and Master Training Specialist.
AEC (SELECT) Spink is married to Renee Spink and has two beautiful children, Zachary Ryan and Madison Grace.
