MAC (SEL) (SW/AW) Russell W. Nunn, USN
Chief (SEL) Nunn was born in Ashdown, Arkansas on March 12, 1976 and raised in North Adams, Massachusetts. Chief (SEL) Nunn entered Naval Service on February 5, 2001.
After graduation from Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, Chief (SEL) Nunn attended Hull Maintenance Technician ‘A’ School at Great Lakes Naval Training Center and graduated as honor graduate.
His first sea tour of duty was on board USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CV67) from 2002 to 2005. Where he served as the ships Locksmith and Carpenter.
His shore duty assignments include Master at Arms A School at Lack land Air Force Base in San Antonio Texas in 2005. Where he converted to the Master at Arms rate, he then took follow on orders to NAS Whiting Field where his first duty assignment was in patrol. He later became the Command Investigator and is now currently serving as the Chief of Police.
Chief (SEL) Nunn served as the Police Training Advisory Team Lead for PRT Khost in Khost, Afghanistan from 2006 to 2007. In 2008 he also served as a member of the Sadar City Warrant team while assigned to the Law and Order Task Force on board FOB Shields in Rusafa, Iraq.
His personal awards include the Army Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), Army Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (three awards) and various service and campaign awards. He has been designated an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist.
While serving in the Navy, Chief (SEL) Nunn earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa. He also earned a Masters of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of the Rockies in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Chief (SEL) Nunn is married to the former Nicola L. Lambert.
